Tambu

We dedicate the second realm of the collection to the artisanal soul of Gujarat, to the female communities of the Kutch populations on the borders with Pakistan, who have passed down the art of textile decoration for generations as a beautiful expression of their cultural identity. The chromatic contrasts of our fabrics tell the sense of colour of the Kutch tribes, the luminous touch of copper lurex recalls the light of Rabari embroideries embellished with small mirrors. The incredible decorations of the houses in the villages of Hodka and Ludia inspire the energy of colours, which fancifully blend into floral designs, stripes, and unexpected checks. It’s beautiful to rediscover the check pattern, which has always belonged to the NIU world, in the traditional women’s attire of these small villages. A very special connection between worlds.
